Background removal FAQ

Do I need a green screen?

No. The AI auto-detect method removes the background from ordinary footage — any room, any backdrop. Chroma key is there as a cheaper option if you did shoot on a green or blue screen.

Which formats keep the transparency?

WebM (VP9 alpha) and WebP preserve a real transparent background. MP4 has no alpha channel and GIF only supports on/off transparency, so choose WebM or WebP if you need the background to actually be see-through.

AI or chroma key — which should I use?

Use AI when the background is a normal scene (no green screen). Use chroma key when you filmed against a green/blue screen — it is cheaper and gives crisp edges. AI Precision is the middle ground for difficult edges on real footage.

Can I replace the background instead of removing it?

Yes. After the background is removed you can composite your subject onto a solid color or an uploaded background image.

How long a clip can I process?

Clips are processed up to 30 seconds.
